Jun 09,2025
On March 27, 2025, DongfengForthing reached a significant milestone in its brand development with the grand launch of its first righthanddrive model, the ForthingFriday, in Hong Kong. This move not only marks Dongfeng Forthing's official entry into the right-hand drive market but also represents a key step in its global strategic expansion, highlighting the company's firm commitment to accelerating its overseas growth and promoting Chinese new energy vehicles to the world.

As a key player in Dongfeng Forthing's push to popularize pure electric SUVs, the Friday carries a strategic mission in the brand's transformation towards new energy vehicles. Previously, Dongfeng Forthing had no products in the right-hand drive market, and the launch of the right-hand drive version of the Friday successfully fills this gap. During the development process, Dongfeng Forthing invested substantial resources to conduct all-around innovations and upgrades, achieving significant breakthroughs in areas such as range performance, intelligent technology, and localization adaptation, ensuring the new model meets the diverse needs of right-hand drive market users.

The interior of the Dongfeng ForthingFriday features a family-style design. It shares the same interior style as the ForthingT5 EVO, with a minimalist approach. The vehicle comes equipped with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, with a bright chrome coating on the lower section. The car features a large, floating, integrated screen, while the air conditioning vents adopt a round, barrel-style design, giving it a sporty appearance. The center console is kept simple, with silver trim at the bottom, while the front section of the console has a rugged look with a strong base.

On the exterior, the Dongfeng Forthing Friday adopts a crossover design with a fashionable front face. The grille is centrally positioned, with a trapezoidal outline and small trim pieces in the same color as the car body. The car's headlights are striking, featuring a broken-line daytime running light and a hidden main light surrounded by black trim, giving the overall design a crossover look. The front lower section features a sporty front splitter, and the bottom perimeter of the vehicle is accentuated with red decorative strips. The side profile of the vehicle is also sporty, with prominent lines around the rear fenders and muscular contours on the lower floating body, while the dynamic alloy wheels add to its stylish appearance.

The dimensions of the Dongfeng Forthing Friday are 4600mm in length, 1860mm in width, and 1680mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2715mm, positioning it as a compact SUV. In terms of power, the vehicle is equipped with a 150 kW electric motor provided by Fudi Power, a subsidiary of BYD, and the battery is supplied by Sunwoda.

Choosing HongKong as the debut location for its new model reflects Dongfeng Forthing's far-reaching strategic considerations. As an international financial hub and free trade center, Hong Kong boasts an extensive commercial network and consumer base, offering a highly internationalized platform for product display. Leveraging Hong Kong’s influence, Dongfeng Forthing aims to rapidly enhance its brand visibility in global markets, laying the foundation for further expansion into more international markets.

To date, the right-hand drive version of the Friday has been launched in Macau, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, NewZealand, and more than ten other right-hand drive countries and regions. This strategic layout is intended to offer global consumers a new choice for green, intelligent mobility and to promote the widespread adoption of new energy vehicles worldwide.
At the launch event, Qin Qin, Head of the Right-Hand Drive Market at Dongfeng Forthing Import & Export Company, stated: "Dongfeng Forthing is committed to becoming the most determined and fastest car manufacturer in the transition to new energy. In the future, we will continue to increase our R&D investment, launch more globally competitive new energy products, and create greater value for consumers." This statement indicates that DongfengForthing is not only focused on current market expansion but also committed to occupying a leading position in the global new energy vehicle market through technological innovation and product optimization.

The successful launch of the Forthing Friday marks a major milestone for Dongfeng Forthing in the new energy vehicle sector. It highlights the company's strength in product innovation and market expansion, setting a new benchmark for China’s EV industry. Amid the rise of "ecosystem export" trends, Dongfeng Forthing is deepening its global footprint, creating value for both the company and international consumers. With a sales network spanning six continents and 80 countries, Dongfeng's overseas exports have grown by over 100% annually in the past three years, and new energy vehicle sales have surged by 300%.

Locally, Dongfeng Liuzhou has established KD factories in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, driving technological and production localization. Additionally, through "overseas live streaming + digital e-commerce," Dongfeng Forthing has boosted its international recognition and brand reputation.
As the right-hand drive version of the Friday expands globally, Dongfeng Forthing is poised to further elevate its brand influence, promote Chinese new energy vehicles worldwide, and deliver high-quality, eco-friendly mobility experiences to consumers. This will solidify its position in the competitive global EV market, paving the way for China’s new energy vehicle industry to thrive internationally.
