Third Place: HaiLion 07EV

The international sales of the HaiLion 07EV have been impressive, with monthly sales exceeding 8,000 units. This success can be attributed to both strong product performance and favorable policy support. First, the policy environment in international markets is highly conducive to the promotion of pure electric vehicles, with subsidy policies in effect across many countries. Notably, regions outside of oil-rich countries like those in the Arab world and the U.S. are actively pushing for pure electric vehicle incentives. In contrast, the domestic market is highly competitive, where the HaiLion 07EV faces strong rivals like the Song L EV, Leap C11, Avita 07, Tesla Model Y, and Xiaomi YU7. Despite this intense competition, the HaiLion 07EV has achieved remarkable success in overseas markets, thanks to its robust product strength and the advantages of favorable policies.

In the global market, the only competitor to the HaiLion 07 is the Tesla Model Y. With its E3.0 EVO technology, the HaiLion 07 outperforms the Model Y in terms of its powertrain system, especially in regions such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Europe. Consumers focus more on safety, handling, and cost-effectiveness rather than brand reputation. In the taxi market, which is dominated by BBA brands, Tesla lacks a unique brand halo, and consumers prioritize technical capabilities. The stronger the technology, the more likely it is to be their choice.

Second Place: Sea Gull

The Sea Gull has disrupted the compact car market, traditionally dominated by fuel-powered vehicles like the Volkswagen Golf and Renault Zoe. In Brazil, consumers were impressed by its driving experience, while in Europe, it quickly became a top choice for its speed and efficiency, outpacing fuel cars. Priced 30%-40% lower than similar fuel models, the Sea Gull also benefits from road rights incentives for new energy vehicles. By building local factories in Brazil and Hungary, BYD reduced costs and avoided tariff barriers, creating jobs and boosting exports. In November 2025, the Sea Gull exported 36,000 units, becoming China’s top export model. With strong overseas demand, it’s expected to reach 50,000 units in monthly sales next year.

First Place: Song Plus DMi

The Song Plus DMi is undoubtedly the global market champion, showcasing its strong competitiveness. While it faced tough competition from the HaiLion 06 in the Chinese market, the issue was more about sales strategies favoring the HaiLion 06 and the Song Plus DMi not receiving the support it deserved, such as the cloud-based system and larger battery. In contrast, overseas markets have much less competition. In Europe, the only popular mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV is the Volkswagen Tiguan PHEV, but as a gas-to-electric conversion model, its cost-performance ratio is far inferior to the Song Plus DMi. The Song Plus DMi's global advantages are unparalleled.

If given the choice between the Song Plus DMi and the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Song Plus DMi stands out as the clear winner. With its superior intelligent car system, spacious design, and cutting-edge powertrain—especially the blade battery—BYD's Song Plus DMi offers unmatched advantages. The vehicle’s plug-in hybrid system, combined with government incentives, enhances its market competitiveness. The blade battery’s safety and range performance are significantly better than the Tiguan PHEV.

The Song Plus DMi's success as the best-selling new energy vehicle in Germany proves its appeal to overseas consumers. As global support for new energy vehicles grows, BYD’s technological leadership continues to gain recognition, positioning the Song Plus DMi as a top contender in international markets.

2025 has been a pivotal year for BYD in establishing its competitive edge in overseas markets. Many of its previously lesser-known electric vehicles, which faced intense competition in China, have gained rapid market recognition internationally thanks to their exceptional cost-performance ratio. BYD’s strategic approach—setting up local manufacturing plants, utilizing mixed-load ships, and leveraging the China-Europe Railway Express—has allowed the company to steadily build a robust global sales network. While many automakers struggle to break into overseas markets, BYD has successfully overcome these challenges, securing significant market share. With advanced technology, strong product offerings, and a flexible market strategy, BYD has firmly positioned itself as a leader in the global new energy vehicle market.
